A view lists the records of one object, a layout arranges the page of one record, navigation items build the sidebar, and commands fill the command palette. All four are data, so modules and workspaces define them the same way.

Views

A view is a saved way of looking at one object: which records, in what order, with which fields. An object can have many views. A view stores its filter, sort and fields. Create and edit views in Settings → Views, or ship them in a module. For the controls inside a view, see Records and views.

Layouts

A layout is how one record’s page is arranged. It has a shell and blocks. Blocks are the pieces on the page: the record’s fields, related records, comments, activity and tasks. Each object has a layout, and a module ships a default for its objects. See Blocks for the blocks a studio can draw. The sidebar is built from navigation items. Each item points at one target. Modules add their own items, for example Prospects and Sales from the CRM. A workspace can rename, hide and rearrange items in Settings → Navigation.

Command palette

⌘K opens the command palette from anywhere. It searches records and runs commands such as New person. A command’s action is one of navigate, create_record or open_block. Modules add their own commands. See Pages and commands.
